This is my working journal on my first experience with Mardi Gras "Kansas City Style". My husband, Ben and I are documenting this event so stay tuned for more pics and an article on the festivities in the April Issue of The Red Fruit and The Malachy Paper Site.

February 20th: Bought dress at Isabel's on 18th Street
February 21st: Bought accessories at Kansas City Costumes
February 22nd: Attended the 2nd Annual Fahrenheit Gallery Mardi Gras Ball 2003
February 23rd: And the Ball goes on: I was crowned Queen of the Ball! I cried. Bobby was really sweet with the entire inauguration!

February 28th:  Bought accessories for my costume at Kansas City Costume (They are awesome); angel wings that I dyed with Folgers Coffee (looked great but didn't wear them.  That would have required taking off my coat.  I'll wait for heaven for my wings!  Birdies will be using them in their front window display!  I wore my wedding dress as part of my ensemble.   When Ben and I were married, it snowed 8" in 1996.  This time and ice storm and snow.  I'm not wearing it again!  It could cause an avalanche.

March 5th:  Let the Parade Begin (see page 2)  There was an ice storm during the parade; but no one cared.  Malachy Papers and Dirty Force were incredible.  There were several hundred people, Fox News showed up, the KC Star, and other obtrusive media folk!  Louisiana look out Kansas City knows how to party!
